Ingredients of Banana flower Cutlet

  2. Prepare 1 of big potato(cut into pieces).
  3. It's 1 tsp of ginger paste.
  4. Prepare 4 of green chillies paste.
  5. Prepare To taste of salt.
  6. You need 1 tsp of turmeric powder.
  7. You need 2 tsp of kashmiri red chilli powder.
  8. You need 1 tsp of Cumin powder.
  9. Prepare 1/4 tsp of garam masala powder.
  10. It's 1 tsp of ghee.
  11. It's 3 tbsp of oil.
  12. You need 1 tsp of sugar.
  13. Prepare As needed of To fry oil.
  14. It's 1 tbsp of Gram flour.
  15. Prepare 2 tbsp of cornflour/flour.
  16. It's 1 cup of breadcrumbs / cornflakes powder.
  17. It's 2 of bay leaves.
  18. You need 2 of dry red chillies.
  19. It's 2 of cardamom.
  20. You need 1 tsp of Cumin seeds.

This is an apt dish for the health. Vazhaipoo cutlet is an interesting deep fried snack prepared using vazhaipoo (banana flower in English) and cooked potato as the base ingredients. Recently I got a big banana flower from Salem. As usual I prepared Vazhaipoo usili and vazhaipoo dosa.

Banana flower Cutlet instructions

  1. Boil and squeeze water from banana flower. Keep aside. Add 3 tbsp oil into pan. Let it hot.Add cumin seeds,bay leaves,dry red chillies, cardamom. Add potatoes.Add salt, turneric powder. Fry well..
  2. Add banana flower. Add salt, turmeric powder,red chilli powder, cumin powder, ginger paste,chilli paste. Cook using lid in low flame.. After 10 minutes add 1 cup of water. Let water evaporate..
  3. Let it cool. Smash well. Make thin batter of cornflour and gram flour adding salt and water. Make balls of bananaflower,dip into the batter and roll on bread crumbs and deep fry into oil. Serve with salad and sauce.

Dip each cutlet in atta mixture and then coat with bread crumbs. Heat oil in deep bottom pan and fry the cutltes till it become golden brown. Remove cutlets from oil, keep in kitchen towel to remove excess oil. Hot and tasty Banan Flower (Vazha Poovu) Cutlet is ready to serve. Remove couple of dull petals of vazhakoombu or remove the florets till you see soft and pale colored edible part inside.
