  1. You need 1 pc of Banana blossom/mocha finly chopped.
  2. Prepare 250 gm of Prwan medium size/chingri Maach.
  3. You need 1 of Potato medium size.
  4. Prepare 1/2 cup of Chopped Tomato.
  5. You need 3 tbsp of Mustard oil.
  6. You need 1 tsp of Cumin seeds.
  7. You need 2-3 pc of Red chilli whole.
  8. You need as needed of Some spices like cardamom 2-3, clove3-4, cinemon 1, bay leaves 3-4.
  9. You need to taste of Salt.
  10. You need 1 tsp of Sugar.
  11. It's 2 tbsp of Ginger paste.
  12. It's 1/4 tsp of Cumin powder.
  13. Prepare 1/4 tsp of Red chilli powder.
  14. You need 1/2 tsp of Turmeric powder.
  15. You need 1/4 tsp of Garam masala.
  16. Prepare 1 tbsp of Ghee.

Prepping banana blossoms is a labourious activity, but it is worth Prep the banana blossoms, grind a basic Bengali garam masala and make the curry using potato, chickpeas and coconut milk. Banana Blossoms Curry With Prawns/Chingri Mach diye Mochar Ghonto instructions

  1. Deep the finely chopped banana blossoms in salted for 30 min..
  2. After that boiled this,drained out all the water and wash for two or three times..
  3. Marinated the prawns with little bit of salt and turmeric and keep it for 5 min..
  4. Heat oil in a pan add 1 tbsp mustard oil and add prawns and fried well and keep it aside..
  5. Then add remaining oil in a same pan and add cumin seeds, red chilli whole, bay leaves and some spices and saute till the fragrent..
  6. Add potato and fried well. Add ginger paste and cumin powder, red chilli powder, salt and turmeric powder and little bit of water and saute..
  7. Add tomato and cover and cook it almost 2-3 min..
  8. Then add sugar and add banana blossoms and mixed it very well..
  9. Add prawns and mixed. Fried all the items on full flame..
  10. Cover and cook it 6-7 min. Then add little bit of water and fried it..
  11. Again cover and cook it 5-6 min..
  12. Add garam masala powder and ghee and serve hot with boiled rice..

Like all Bengali vegetarian dishes, Mochar ghonto too is pure veg recipe sans any onions or garlic. Even though it can gleefully accommodate prawns or shrimps, only the small ones but onions. Banana blossom is called Mocha ('cha' pronounced as in chair) in Bengali. I had posted a recipe, Mochar ghonto , with this not so common vegetable almost a year back.
